Insecure Writer's Support Group: Who would you want to hang out with?

 



Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer - aim for a dozen new people each time - and return comments. This group is all about connecting!

April 2 question - What fantasy character would you like to fight, go on a quest with, or have a beer/glass of wine with?
 
 What a fun question! I think that I would like to have a coffee or a tea with Mona from The Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking by T. Kingfisher. I could sit at the counter and listen to her stories of saving the Duchess while eating delicious baked goods. It could be pastries, sweet rolls, or even bread and butter. I like carbs and coffee and who else to hang with than a magical baker?

How has things been with you?
 
Springtime is when things get really busy for equine vets. So I haven't had the energy to do as much reading or writing as I would like. But I'm still hanging in there. 
 
How do you find time to write?
 
Currently, I'm waking up early and writing in bed so as not to wake the littles. We'll see how long that lasts for.

It was Everything and More: A short story

Libby is a cowgirl and once a year she takes her ranch horse to the local rodeo to run barrels. Barrel racing is where the cowgirl rides her horse in a cloverleaf pattern around three barrels. Whoever has the fastest time and doesn’t knock any barrels over wins. Libby took her horse for fun.

Here is a video of Round 1 at the NFR to get an idea. Most cowgirls at the local rodeos aren’t running that fast.

Who would you want to be for a day?


Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

March 5 question - If for one day you could be anyone or *thing* in the world, what would it be? Describe, tell why, and any themes, goals, or values they/it inspire in you.  
 
First off, I want to apologize for missing last month. For some reason, I thought that it was the second Wednesday of the month. It wasn't.
 
If I could be anyone for one day, I'd like to be my dog, Tank. He spends his day sleeping on the couch, barking at the neighbor's chickens, getting food offerings from the little kids, and then he gets to sleep on the bed at night. I guess the theme is rest and relaxation. I don't feel like I get to do that much right now and having a day where I don't have any responsibilities sounds wonderful.
 
I did have two wins this week. The first is that I made myself attend a local writers group. They were really nice and friendly. I can't believe it took me so long to get the nerve up to go. The other win was that I got Scrivener to work on my computer. I switched from Windows to Linux a while ago because my computer was having troubles with the Windows upgrades. I hate planned obsolescence, anyway. So I took it to the local computer shop and they put in Linux. I really like Linux except I couldn't have Scrivener and OneNote. I was procrastinating and came across a post in the Literature and Latte Forums about a beta version for Linux. It works well. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles but it was super easy to install for a non-techie person. (As for OneNote, I'm trying Obsidian but I'm not sold yet.)
